LG Chem OLED LIGHT PANELS HAVE BEEN USED TO CREATE PENDANT LAMPS AT A NEW POP UP RESTAURANT, TINCAN
LONDON, SEP 18, 2014 – LG Chem OLED Light panels have been used as the main light source at Tincan, a newly opened pop-up restaurant designed by AL_A. The restaurant which was introduced in time for this year’s London Design Festival, serves an exquisite collection of tinned seafood along with carefully selected beer and wine. The decision to use LG Chem OLEDs for the restaurant’s lighting was based on the excellent light quality as well as the design possibilities unique to OLEDs. Moreover, the simplicity of OLEDs enabled the architectural design firm, AL_A, to design and manufacture the lightings themselves.
“It is very easy for us to be creative and think of new designs. It is a ‘simply plug-and-play’ element. It opens a whole new world of possibilities” says Maximiliano Arrocet, a director at AL_A. The actual lamp was prototyped using 3D printing. Although the final products were created through aluminum spin forming, the designers at AL_A admit that the 3D printed version could have well been the final product.
LG Chem collaborates with ab rogers design to present architectural installation using oleds at may design series 2014
LONDON, MAY 18, 2014 - LG Chem and Ab Rogers Design have collaborated on a project to apply OLED light to an architectural installation, the OLED Tree Bar. The design was installed at May Design Series furnishing fair which was held May 18–20 this year. Along with LG Chem, Ab Rogers has been seeking to create applications only possible with OLEDs. The result of the endeavor was blooming petals of thin OLED light panels that illuminated the bar area built for the exhibition. LG Chem`s circular type OLED light panels (N6OA30) were used for the project.
LG Chem announces aggressive price target to stimulate the OLED light market
SEOUL, MAY 28, 2014 – LG Chem announces to strategically drop the price of OLED light panels from third quarter of 2014. The market price was set at $600/Klm or above, depending on order quantities. Today, LG Chem suggests a new price of $200/Klm.
LG Chem exhibits the world’s top performing OLED Light Panels at Light + Building 2014
LG Chem is currently participating in the biannual Light + Building Exhibition held at Messe Frankfurt.When LG Chem joined the previous exhibition in 2012, the company had displayed its 60lm/W OLED panels which are still the world’s most efficient mass-produced OLED panels. This year, LG Chem has increased the lifetime of these panels up to 40,000 hours (LT70). LG Chem is also exhibiting the world’s largest OLED panels at 320x320mm.
LG Chem launches 55lm/W Bendable and 80lm/W Rigid OLED light panels during second half
LG Chem’s OLED Light Division has announced that it will launch a new line-up of OLED light panels over the second half of 2013. LG Chem’s portfolio will provide customers with various size options in configurations of 53x55mm, 100x100mm, 140x140mm, and 200x50mm. All of these panels will have an improved efficacy of 55~60lm/W and a CRI above 90. In addition to the previous LG Chem panels that were available in the color temperature of 4000K, the whole line-up will also be available in 3000K, expanding the CCT options for customers as well.
LG Chem has developed Plastic Film type Flexible OLED Panels
LG Chem’s OLED Light Division has announced that it has finalized development of its new Plastic Film type Flexible OLED Panels. The panels are produced through new processes and technologies using plastic films which enable the panels to be lighter and truly flexible. The truly flexible characteristics will enable unprecedented luminaire designs and even wall paper lighting, as well as new lighting applications for automotive and airplane industry.
LG Chem to release High CRI OLED panels
The first mass produced efficient/long lifetime OLED panels with high CRI. (CRI>90, 60lm/W level efficacy, LT70>20,000, 3000-4000K) LG Chem’s OLED Light Division has announced that it has been producing all of its panels at CRI levels over 90 as of April this year. CRI (Color Rendering Index) is a quantitative measure relative to natural light, determining a light source’s ability to reproduce the colors of the objects on which the light shines.
LG Chem exhibits 80lm/W and Flexible OLED Panels at Euroluce 2013
LG Chem is currently participating in the Euroluce exhibition in Milano, Italia. The company is displaying the world’s best performance OLED panels at 80lm/W, and the world’s first mass-produced flexible OLED panels, both of which will begin mass production within the third quarter of this year.

LG CHEM and LG Electronics present the OLED LIGHTING International Design Competition in collaboration with designboom. The objective of the competition is to catalyze the international creative and design community to create commercially viableOLED LIGHTING applications for the current premium market. The OLED LIGHTING International Design Competition will give designers a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to partake in developing first generation OLED lighting products (for general lighting applications), and to eventually “Change the way we see the light.”
LG Chem plans 80lm/w OLED lighting panels in July 2013
LG Chem sent us an update on their OLED lighting program, with some very exciting news. Besides planning flexible OLED lighting panels in July 2013 (I already posted about this earlier), LG says they have successfully developed high efficiency OLED lighting panels (80lm/W, similar to CFLs) that will enter mass production in July 2013 (together with the flexible panels). These will be the world's most efficient OLED panels (beating LG Chem's current 60lm/W panels).
LG Chem plans to release flexible panels in July 2013
We've just got word from LG Chem that the company now plans to start mass producing the world's first flexible OLED lighting panels in July 2013 (and also high-efficiency 80 lm/W rigid panels). This is exciting news and if LG Chem will indeed go through with this plan it will be an important milestone for OLED lighting. Those OLED panels will be 200 x 50mm in size and will feature 45lm/W and a color temperature of 4,000K.
LG Chem to join Light & Building 2012 as a supplier of the world's most efficient
LG Chem will be participating in the biannual Light&Building(L&B) Exhibition for the first time as a supplier of OLED Panels. True to this year's L&B theme ‘Energy Efficiency', LG Chem will be displaying some of the world's most efficient mass production panels at 45lm/W and 60lm/W. Also on display will be some of LG Chem’s conceptual products to illustrate what the future of OLED lighting may hold.
